Camped in site #9 for a couple nights last weekend. I called ahead and was told by a ranger that sites in the upper camp would have a distant view of the ocean, but as I arrived late on Friday night, I found that 2/3′s of the campground was closed and I was lucky to get a good spot.
As I said, I got in around midnight, which means it took 4 hours to go from sf up to hwy 20 and back down the coast to the campsite. Not much traffic and the weather was good.
